SP Green & Co. Ltd believes that all customers need to be informed correctly about the diamonds they buy. As members of The National Association of Goldsmiths and British Jewellers Association we are fully qualified to offer advice in this area. As well as offering our own expert advice, we can offer a superb range of independently certificated diamonds.
The purpose of a diamond certificate is to offer you the highest possible level of security and confidence. It confirms the diamond's authenticity and describes its essential characteristics:
- Carat
- Colour
- Clarity
- Cut
- Symmetry
- Polish
Not just anyone can grade a diamond. It needs to be examined by expert gemmologists, under strict regulations and using specialised equipment. This is why our range of certificated diamonds come strictly from renowned independent diamond laboratories. Primarily we stock only GIA, HRD and IGI certificated diamonds. Below is more information on these bodies.
GIA is the Gemological Institute of America. Established in 1931, the Gemological Institute of America is one of the world?s foremost authorities on diamonds, coloured stones, and pearls. GIA is the world?s most respected gemological laboratory, entrusted with grading and identifying more gems than any other lab including the Hope, the Taylor-Burton, the De Beers Millennium Star, and the Incomparable. Located in major gem and jewellery centres around the world, GIA laboratories are staffed by expert diamond graders and gemologists, whose work sets the standard for grading practices worldwide.
HRD Antwerp is one of the foremost diamond grading authorities. To ensure your absolute confidence, HRD Antwerp only grades polished diamonds that have not been set into a piece of jewellery.
That is why HRD Antwerp's Diamond Lab also examines whether a diamond has been subject to any unreported treatments in order to alter its appearance or whether it is synthetic, meaning that it was not born millions of years ago in nature, but in a laboratory.
The IGI is the International Gemological Institute, a foremost leader in precious gem stone certification. Located in New York City, Los Angeles, Toronto, Antwerp, Hong Kong, Mumbai, the Seepz Zone, Kolkata, New Delhi, Surat, Dubai, Bangkok, Tokyo and Tel Aviv, the International Gemological Institute (IGI) is the largest independent laboratory for grading and evaluating diamonds and fine jewelry, and is renowned for its quality services, extensive experience and expertise.
S.P. Green & Co. Ltd is based in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter and specialise in bespoke luxury diamond Jewellery. The wide ranging collections include engagement rings, eternity rings, wedding rings, Rolex and Cartier watches and a unique collection of bespoke contemporary pieces.
